A Valentine Day Special
Tomorrow, Saturday Feb 14, 2009, is Valentine's Day. To commemorate this day of love, we bring you the love story of one of our colleagues, Mr Yazit Rahman; his journey of love and the loves of his life.
Yazit and wife Rozidah have been married for seven years now and together they have set up their home in Admiralty with two lovely children, Adi and Ika, to keep them company and most definitely, busy.
The good thing is they also have another 'family' member, their 25 year old maid, Sarhiti, from West Java, to help them out. Guess we now know the reason for the drastic change in Yazit's size and weight. Must surely be the Javanese food.
Muhammad Adi Syukri is a very beautiful name and it is the name of the elder child. Yazit and Rozie call him Adi and according to Yazit, he is a very playful kid, currently studying in K1, who loves the outdoors like swimming and going to the seaside, besides the usual PC games that most kids these days find a must have.
He is also into fashion, no, not yet the designer that perhaps he might one day be, but more of an admirer of good fashion sense. Very often you will see him comment on the dress sense of girls, whether they are beautiful or whether it can be improved a little bit here or there. Mind you, he is all of five years only and already has a keen sense of fashion and what looks good or not. This boy has talent and his parents are aware of it and keeping a close tab to see how they can help him develop his talent in the coming years.
Food wise, he seems to be a kid who loves practically anything and everything. He eats all kinds of vegetables that kids his age are well documented to have trouble with, and his favourite fruit is grapes. He drinks HL milk and eats lots of all kinds of cereals.
Turning to the screen, Ben 10 and Transformers, get him all excited. An avid animal lover too with amphibians being the main creatures that attract him. He cannot keep his eyes off sharks, crocodiles and even the legendary anaconda.
What else can we expect of a five year old boy? Any love interest you ask? Well, well, he has, at the moment five girlfriends to choose from. It does not come as a surprise to both parents for here is a very friendly and sociable young man.
What makes little Adi so attractive is probably the immense talent, creativity and the ability to interact with his peers. He is also into classical music already and again Daddy is exercising patience, to wait and see if his interest continues to hold, and if it does, he will help junior pursue this end when the time is right. For the time being, little Adi will have to be content with Daddy being the tutor.
Adi's other interests include the love for sports cars and racing cars. No wonder, already preparing for life in the fast track? Here is a gem of a talent waiting to be uncovered.
Whatever spare time he has, is spent with his Chinese grandfather, and anything that catches his interest from time to time, will keep him occupied. His creativity and limitless imagination will dictate the order of the day.
Three months ago, Yazit and Rozie have another new addition to their family, a little girl that goes by the name of Nur Atiqah, or Ika, as they would lovingly call her.
Ika is very much the angel that she is, always smiling and laughing when entertained. As with all new born babies, there is always the element of apprehension when strange faces hover above her. She will thread carefully before acknowledging the presence of strangers. Such power of discernment at 3 months. Yazit and Rozie are very fortunate parents indeed.
When not being entertained, she loves to watch the tele and she will give her full and undivided attention to anything on the tele that attracts her attention.
She too has a peculiar habit of pretending to be asleep, and when her parents were to put her down to bed, thinking she is really asleep, she would spring them a surprise and wake up immediately and ask to be cradled again.
She is everything a baby is. There must be no undivided attention given to her or she will bring the house down with her crying. She will be quiet when she is carried but will make a din when you put her down. Poor Yazit and Rozie. Yazit says it makes his heart ache each time he sees her cry.
Here is one serious little girl, don't play, play and don't be taken in by her cute little smile.
This is one love story I am so happy to share with all of you. When time permits, you can see this model family cruising around Singapore in their five year old KIA Rio. It is not hard to spot as we are already familiar with the license plate number - SFG4721T. Yazit is hopeful, and is looking forward to buying a new car in good time.
