It does seem like a long time ago when we tasted the likes of ……………..
- Indramani's Perpetually-Excellent Fish Curry and The-King-Come Pineapple Rice,
- Suryani's As-Spicy-As-Her Chicken Briyani, Top-Of-The-Pop Corn Rice and Loco-Moco Chocolate Muffins,
- Zubaidah's Flamingo-od Mee Siam and Super-Sambalic Fish Balls,
- Khir's Knock-You-Dead-With-One-Punch Beef and Mutton Rendang,
- Safawati's Colour-Me-Beautiful and Delightfully Delicious Jelly Cups,
- Joyce's Cheese-smile Cheese Cakes and Thirst-Quenching Longan Dessert;
- Abduh's Monstrously Masculine Murtabak,
- Haron's Busy-Beeey-Bee-Hoon,
……………………the list could just go on and on.
How can we ever forget all these whoppingly wonderful and gastronomically delicious spread? Shame on you if you have forgotten any of these unforgettable tummy delights.
I know some of you are already sensing the call for another pot luck party and I do not blame you one bit if you feel this way. Time seems to fly by these days and our lives are very much like we cannot seem to get enough out of it.
So much to do, so little time, coupled with the uncertainties surrounding the global economic climate and we can clearly see that we are entering into un-chartered waters. No one knows what the near future would hold let alone the further future.
Enough of the gloomy news already. I am trying to think of a good reason to organize another pot-luck luncheon but after coming through Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year. I find that it might be too soon to have another celebration. On the other hand, the momentum of merry-making just seem to nudge me along.
Then there is my other point. Should we even have a reason for an impromptu department get-together? If enough colleagues are willing to contribute, by way of bringing to life their secret recipes, then I think it is reason enough to organize one, don't you think?
The only 'setback' I can think of is the financial constraints some of us might have. Who is to know some among us may have a family member who is suddenly out of work and needs to be more careful with their spending, or, something similar that is already eating into their savings? We won't want to impose the pot-luck on them at a time like this.
But then again, should this be the reason for not organizing one? Won't we be guilty of having a defeatist mindset? We must overcome, yes, we can!
Weighing both the pros and cons, a pot-lunch session is still begging to be brought to life. Let us call it a 'Pot-of-Luck' luncheon. Who knows, it might just bring us a change of luck by our unconditional sharing and bring us into brighter days ahead.
Pot-of-Luck anyone?

Timothy's 20mths old now. He's a "boy" boy...full of energy, loves cars esp. steering wheels. I'll be happy to write something and pass it to you one of these days.
Keep up the writing. This way, I can really stay connected with the "gossip" in HIS. I've always enjoyed reading my friends' blogs. This will definitely be one that I will bookmark.
Take care
Jennifer
